2008 Virginia Press Association Award Announcements!!!

Yep, I am buzzed!

At the Virginia Press Association's annual convention and awards ceremony, held in Roanoke this year, for my contributions to the Hanover Herald-Progress, I received the following recognitions:

First Place - Sports Feature Photo

First Place - Personality or Portrait

Second Place - Picture Story

Second Place - Photo Illustration

Wow. What a thrill!! Each year, I head out, hoping to shoot enough to at least bag a handful of images that I can be proud of. It is immensely satisfying to nail the images that the art directors, editors, and photo directors expect me to deliver. And it's an unbelieveable jazz to land some that stand up in a competition like this one.

As always, I am everso thankful to all those who make this possible. Thanks again to Greg Glassner and Lakeway Publishers for all their support. Thanks also to Bob Brown and James Wallace at the Richmond Times-Dispatch for all the opportunities they've given me. Thanks to all those art directors, editors, and photo directors that have given me the chance to shoot for them. Thanks, also, Dan Beatty! Thank God for leading me this way, and thanks to my family, especially my wife, for supporting me on this journey. What a trip!
